Breadth of experience
The Achaogen Biopharmaceutical Fellowship is a two-year program designed to develop pharmacists to assume a variety of responsibilities within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry. Applicants must be Doctor of Pharmacy candidates or graduates from an ACPE accredited institution and must be enthusiastic professionals with excellent communication skills. Individuals with an interest in drug development, clinical research, and medical affairs are encouraged to apply. The fellowship involves hands-on training and project-based learning with mentorship from experts in the field.
Clinical Sciences Fellow
The Clinical Sciences Fellow will participate in a broad range of activities, including drug discovery, early clinical development/translational medicine (Phase 1), late clinical development (Phase 2-3), and regulatory affairs. The fellow will contribute to designing and executing clinical trials, as well as data analysis and interpretation. The fellow will work cross-functionally to develop an appreciation of how specific areas of expertise, including biostatistics, clinical pharmacology, and pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, impact development pathways for antibiotics.
Medical Affairs Fellow (One position)
The Medical Affairs Fellow will be exposed to key workstreams in scientific communications, medical information, and health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), as well as work closely with the medical affairs operations and field-based, medical sciences teams. In building a bridge between Achaogen and the healthcare community, the fellow will learn about development of scientific communication tools, assessment of investigator-initiated research proposals, the medical education grants process, the function of medical call centers, and the integration of clinical and economic evidence to support the value proposition of a product.
